  • VW Dig Was Born

    Trenching and installing conduit with 1 backhoe and 1 truck, Stephen Naylor, Founded VW Dig in February 1994.

  • Early Utility Program Begins

    Called the TIPPS Program (temporary in permanent position). Required coordination between home builders, concrete companies, framers, electricians, municipalities, and utility companies.

  • Tucson Conduit System

    VW Connect introduced a groundbreaking change in Tucson. Before this year, the city relied on the direct-bury method for underground utilities. VW Connect pioneered the conduit system, transforming the way utilities were installed. This innovation not only streamlined efficiency but also set a lasting standard still used in Tucson today. Always trailblazers, we continue to shape safer, smarter utility solutions.

  • Superior Office

    Completed the construction of our superior office in Phoenix, Arizona.

  • Tucson Office

    Completed the construction of our office on Station Master Drive in Tucson, Arizona, allowing us to prove to our partners that we were there for the long haul. We weren’t just expanding; we were investing in the Tucson market and building relationships meant to last.  Nearly two decades later, that commitment still runs deep. Tucson isn’t just a location—it’s part of our foundation.

  • Permanent Power Program

    The electric companies set a permanent meter. Return trips to the house are no longer needed.

  • Plumbing Soils Begins

  • Power Line Installations Begin

  • Gas Riser Installations Begin

  • VW Connect Was Formed

    VW Dig and Site Utility Systems merged to create VW Connect. The 40th Street office and yard were completed. The land development division was created, focusing on dry utility installations for residential development.

  • Wally's First Job

    Wally the Wheel Trencher joined the VW Development team.  Wally can trench 5000 feet per day.  Wally allows for safer/cleaner trenching.

  • Southwest GAS Mains Pilot Program

    VW Connect begins and completes program that requires 100% inspection from SWG on all projects over the course of 3 years.

  • Acquired Cissell Electric

    VW Connect expands development offers by now including streetlight division.

  • Build to Rent projects Begin

    Build-to-Rent projects through Development expand to include seamless connection to our secondary services.

  • SWG Valley District work Begins

    VW Connect begins Gas Riser installations for new residential work in Casa Grande & Maricopa.

  • SWG Southern Arizona / Tuscon work Begins

    VW Connect begins Gas Riser installations for new residential work in Tucson.

  • Mesa Gas work Begins

    VW Connect completes Mesa Gas OQ training and begins contract work.

  • Gas Mains Contract (Builders Choice)

    VW Connect spearheaded Builder Choice program allowing builders and developers to elect VW Connect for gas main work.  Reduction to builder timelines and improved visibility for coordination. 

  • Development Division Yard

    This new space was designed for our growing development team! This expansion provides more room for crews, new offices for staff, and functional space for operations and equipment. This milestone emphasizes an expansion in our capabilities and reflects our continued projection for growth.
